RCIPS FCIU Warns of Potential Government Grant Scams

In recent months the RCIPS has become aware of at least two possible scams circulating inviting Cayman residents to apply for Government grants, while requesting a cash deposit of approximately CI $100-125, along with personal ID details, to process these claims.

Stabbing in George Town

Shortly before 5:00AM Thursday morning, 20 July, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a service station on Walkers Road, near the intersection of Boilers Road. A man at the location was approached by another man who stabbed him and then left the location in a vehicle.

At about 6:00PM on Friday, 17 July, RCIPS officers conducted a search at an address in the Prospect area of George Town, under the Misuse of Drugs Law. As the officers approached, a male carrying a suitcase exited the address and got into a Jeep.

Men Arrested for Fraudulent Credit Card Use

On Thursday, 9 July, officers arrested two men, both age 26 of George Town, on suspicion of obtaining property by deception. Yesterday, 15 July, a third man, age 27 of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of the same offense.

A woman, age 41 of George Town, has been formally charged with Burglary in relation to an incident reported on Tuesday, 26 May, where a business on North Church Street was broken into and items taken.
