1st Runner Up to represent at Miss Universe Pageant 2023

The recent controversy surrounding the 2022 Miss Cayman Pageant has taken on a new twist, after this year’s Winner, Ms Tiffany Conolly was recently asked by the pageant’s Committee to refrain from making public appearances due to ongoing criminal charges in the Cayman Islands Courts.

With Ms. Conolly no longer able to make public appearances the Second Runner Up in the contest, Ms. Hayley Grizzel was chosen as the representative aboard the inaugural flight of Cayman Airways to Los Angeles on 5th November.

It has since been announced that the Pageants first runner-up will be representing the Cayman Islands at the upcoming Miss Universe Pageant.

“…the 1st Runner Up in the 2022 pageant, Chloe Doxey-Powery has been selected as the alternate who will represent the Cayman Islands at the Miss Universe Pageant in New Orleans on 14 January 2023”, noted a statement by the Pageants Committee.

The statement added that both Ms Doxey-Powery and the 2022 Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2nd Runner-Up, Hayley Grizzel, will continue to be active in the community as alternates for the titleholder Tiffany Connolly until further notice.

The decision to replace the Pageant’s formal Winner for public appearances comes after weeks of public discourse surrounding whether she would be able to fulfill her international obligations in light of her pending criminal charges.

As for now she is still the reigning Miss Cayman and has received a scholarship, as well as the stipend that comes with the title.
