The official launch of the Deputy Governor’s 5K Run was held at the Government Administration Building on 27th March.

The evening also featured an award ceremony for the winners of last year’s event and an unveiling of a new logo.

Medals were presented to the overall winners and age-group winners of the 2022 DG’s 5K Challenge on Grand Cayman and included medals for fastest male and female, overall; fastest male and female civil servant, and top three finishers in each age category, from 13-and-under to 60-and-over.

The unveiling of the official 2023 logo signaled the launch of this year’s Challenge, which will encompass walk/runs on the following dates across the Cayman Islands: 16 April – Cayman Brac | 23 April – Little Cayman | 30 April – Grand Cayman

The DG’s 5K Challenge started in 2014 and, with the support of local corporate sponsors, has raised almost half-a-million dollars to support deserving causes in our community.

Beneficiaries have ranged from Cayman Hospice Care (now Jasmine) – our 2014 beneficiary, to the three beneficiaries of the 2022 Challenge: CI Cancer Society, the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Foundation, and the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association of the Cayman Islands (ADACI).
