Following on from their Design Thinking workshop that took place on Tuesday to help would-be entrepreneurs gain valuable tips in identifying a great business opportunity, Enterprise Cayman has launched their annual Business Design Competition.
Workshop participants and the wider public are encouraged to enter the Enterprise Cayman 2022 Business Design Competition and potentially go on to win the US$10,000 grand prize and business start-up support package.
Developed to help anyone with a creative business idea turn the idea into a reality, Enterprise Cayman’s annual competition is open to all problem solvers, big thinkers and go-getters who are itching to turn their big ideas into money-making businesses.
The competition is now open for submissions, but applicants need to hurry as the application deadline of 30 January 2022 is quickly approaching.
Enterprise Cayman is a non-profit organisation that is on a mission to develop engaging programmes that provide individuals and growing businesses with the support and opportunity to develop new products, services, and business. They provide a platform where innovators can connect and offer a welcoming business environment that fosters innovation — a place where individuals, local businesses, and global ventures can thrive.
Successful applicants will take part in training sessions and workshops based on Design Sprint exercises. Competitors will then have one month to streamline their project and work with professional project advisors before presenting their final project to a panel of judges at the beginning of April 2022.
Last year’s winners included Community Impact Award Winner, Ryan Zhu’s Z Academy, an entity which aimed to provide free pre-recorded video lessons that are updated to match the ever-changing Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level syllabus and accommodate the current 1.2 million global and Caymanian students taking these qualifications.
Tricia McDoom’s Kizen Law was the Creativity Award winner. Kizen Law is an accessible and transparent virtual platform which aimed to connect qualified, experienced, and licensed attorneys with individuals and small businesses.
Project of the Year Winners 2021 were Kirk Douglas, Valery Davis and Danner Taylor Nelson for their BizHub, a marketplace app for mobile car wash services in Cayman. The app aimed to allow customers to book appointments with the company of their choice, communicate directly with the car wash, and streamline the booking process into a more organised and convenient alternative for both mobile car wash companies and their customers.
