APPLEBY CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG CAYMANIANS

Leading offshore law firm, Appleby has continued its ongoing investment in the local community with its Legal Scholarship Award for the 2019-2020 school year. Charles Allen, who recently completed his A-Levels at Cayman Prep and High School, was awarded the scholarship for his legal studies at Kings College in London. Charles joins the four other students who are currently in Appleby’s scholarship programme at various stages of their respective legal studies.

The Appleby Legal Scholarship programme was created in the early 1980’s to provide financial assistance to young Caymanians intending to pursue a career in law. The programme provides funding for the law degree course at the Truman Bodden Law School, or an approved overseas university, and subsequent professional practice courses, and is worth more than USD100,000 over the duration of the degree and professional practice courses. It includes tuition fees, examination fees, as well as the cost of necessary textbooks, a monthly living allowance and four weeks’ work experience each summer in one of Appleby’s Practice Groups.

Appleby also welcomed Caymanian Kerseanna Ewers as a new articled clerk at the firm in September 2019. Kerseanna recently completed her Bachelor of Laws and subsequently her Professional Practice Course (with Distinction) at the Truman Bodden Law School.

Bryan Hunter, Office Managing Partner in Cayman commented; “Supporting our local community is at the core of our business, not only through our strong community investment programme, but through the development of our local people. We are delighted to support both Charles and Kerseanna in their pursuit of their ambition to become lawyers and look forward to watching them grow.”
