The Ministry of Youth, Sports & Heritage (MYSH) is excited to invite young Caymanian males between the ages of 18 to 25 years old to apply to become the Cayman Islands CARICOM Youth Ambassador (CYA) 2024-2026. An Alternate to the Male CARICOM Youth Ambassador will also be selected from the applicants. Applications are available starting Monday, 12 August and will close on Saturday, 31 August 2024. Interested young men can apply at https://bit.ly/3M1wsQa The CYA programme is run by the Ministry’s Youth Services Unit and was established to facilitate youth participation and partnership in national and regional development. CARICOM Youth Ambassadors are young Caribbean nationals mandated by CARICOM Heads of Governments to advocate for and educate young people on regional priorities.
The successful applicant will have a unique opportunity to address youth issues at both national and regional levels. They will gain access to regional strategies, which can be adapted to create impactful national initiatives that further enhance the development of Cayman’s youth. As a CARICOM Youth Ambassador (CYA), they will play a crucial role in connecting regional and national decision-making processes, ensuring effective strategy implementation.
Selected candidates will represent and advocate on behalf of young Caymanians in various youthfocused initiatives and forums. These voluntary positions require CYAs to demonstrate the ability to:
• Empower local youth,
• Positively influence our community, and
• Make a meaningful difference.
Expressions of interest are encouraged from young Caymanians who are dedicated to remaining in Cayman and committed to serving as a CYA for the next two years.
