“The wait is over for Cayman Airways customers who have been anxiously looking to book tickets for the airline’s second weekly Los Angeles flight and its new nonstop service between Grand Cayman and Barbados!”
With that announcement, the national carrier, Cayman Airways, opened another chapter in its history of aviation in the Cayman Islands and the region.
Tickets are now available to purchase for both new flights.
Cayman Airways has confirmed that the much-anticipated second weekly Los Angeles flight will now commence on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
The additional mid-week Los Angeles (LAX) flight schedule will be as follows on Wednesdays (with an overnight in LAX).
The new Cayman/Barbados route commences on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
The additional LAX flight will operate on Wednesdays with flight KX480 departing Grand Cayman (GCM) at 3:45pm and arriving in LAX at 7pm (overnights). For the Thursday flights KX481 will depart Los Angeles (LAX) at 8am and arrive in Grand Cayman at 4pm.
Heading south to Barbados, weekly flights will operate initially on Wednesdays through November 1st with flight KX800 departing Grand Cayman (GCM) at 7am and arriving in Barbados (BGI) at 11:25am. Flight KX801 departs Barbados (BGI) at 12:45pm and arrives on Grand Cayman at 3:25pm.
The Barbados schedule changes to twice-weekly after the start of the second LAX flight (with an overnight in Barbados).
On Tuesday, flight KX802 will leave Grand Cayman (GCM) at 5:10pm, arriving at Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados at 9:35pm. The turnaround flight will depart Barbados on Wednesdays at 11:45am and arrive in Grand Cayman at 2:25pm
The second weekly flight to Barbados will operate on Thursdays, with flight KX802 departing Grand Cayman (GCM) at 5:10 pm and reaching Barbados (BGI) at 9:35pm. The return flight, KX803, will depart Barbados (BGI) at 9:20am and touchdown in Grand Cayman at 12pm.
In further news about the expanded routes, Cayman Airways says that as of November 7th the Cayman/Barbados route “also boasts having same-day connectivity with popular destinations within Cayman Airways’ existing route network!”
The flight on Tuesdays from Cayman to Barbados will connect with Kingston, Havana, Miami, and Cayman Brac.
The return flight on Wednesdays from Barbados to Cayman will connect with New York (JFK), Cayman Brac, and Los Angeles (LAX) as of November 8, 2023)
Thursdays to Barbados from Cayman will connect with Kingston, New York (JFK) Cayman Brac, and Los Angeles (LAX) as of November 8th. On Fridays, the flight from Barbados to Cayman will connect with La Ceiba, Kingston, Miami, and Cayman Brac.
Round trip fares between Cayman and Barbados start at around US$500 return.
