Cayman Islands Elite Boxing Federation Joins World Boxing to Secure Future of Boxing in the Olympics

The Cayman Islands Elite Boxing Federation (EBF) is proud to announce its official affiliation with World Boxing, the newly formed global governing body dedicated to ensuring boxing’s future in the Olympic Games. This strategic move is aimed at providing our athletes with the best opportunities to compete at the highest levels of amateur boxing.

The National Federations for boxing in Italy, South Korea, Bermuda, and the Cayman Islands have become the latest four organizations to have their membership applications approved by World Boxing. This affiliation means that World Boxing now has 37-member National Federations across all five continents involved in international boxing.

Mr. Alva Suckoo, President of the Cayman Islands Elite Boxing Federation, stated, “We are thrilled to join World Boxing in their mission to keep boxing at the heart of the Olympic Movement. Our decision to affiliate with World Boxing reflects our commitment to providing our boxers with the best possible opportunities to achieve their Olympic dreams.”

The rigorous application process to join World Boxing ensures that all member federations, including the Cayman Islands, adhere to the highest standards.

“We are grateful to the International Boxing Association (IBA) for its assistance in the past. However, we must make decisions based on what is best for our boxers. The establishment of the EBF marks a fresh start, as our previous association, CIBA, was heavily linked to the IBA. We felt that a new federation would better serve our goals and our athletes,” Mr. Suckoo explained.

The EBF is now the governing body for boxing in the Cayman Islands. All individuals and organizations involved in the sport must be registered with us and operate under one unified umbrella. We are already engaged with World Boxing on how they can assist us in continuing to develop boxing in the Cayman Islands.

“Our focus is on giving our Olympians the opportunity to reach the pinnacle of amateur boxing – the Olympic Games. By partnering with World Boxing, we are ensuring that our athletes have a clear and supported path to represent us in the Olympic Games,” Mr. Suckoo added.
