For the first time in months, Cayman has recorded a batch of positive COVID-19 cases in double figures.
In his latest update on testing for the virus, Chief Medical Officer, Dr John Lee, reported on Monday that of 702 COVID-19 tests carried out since Friday May 7th, 12 were positive.
According to the CMO’s report, approximately half of these were found in travellers on arrival and half when screened on exit from quarantine.
All will remain in quarantine until considered fully recovered.
This brings the number of people in isolation, either at a government facility or in their homes to 792.
This brings to 560 the number of positive COVID-19 cases tested in Cayman since the pandemic started last year.
So far, 92,642 samples of the virus have been tested here in a vigorous screening and quarantining effort.
No one is currently hospitalised with the virus.
Extensive testing for COVID-19 has been continuing in Cayman, especially amongst travellers, to detect the virus.
This is ongoing as part of strict protocols to suppress the spread of the disease including a ramped-up vaccination drive.
