CBC Appoints New Senior Deputy Director

Customs & Border Control Service (CBC) confirms the appointment of Kevin Walton as the new Senior Deputy Director.

Mr. Walton brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence to this senior role. He has been a valued member of the CBC team for over (30) thirty years, since he commenced employment at the then Her Majesty Customs in 1987. He has demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership as the Deputy Director for the Trade and Revenue portfolio where he managed a large team of officers and support staff as well as lead CBC’s modernisation programs and technology development projects.

He currently holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration - Cum Laude and has been a member of the Institution’s Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society since 2016.  He also holds a Diploma in Customs Executive Management from the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council in partnership with the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies at the University of Canberra in Australia.

“I am honoured to step into the role of Senior Deputy Director,” said Mr. Walton. “In this position, I will support the Director in providing strategic leadership and management to our organisation. I look forward to collaborating with our many stakeholders to achieve our strategic goals and uphold the high standards of excellence that define our work. I am excited about establishing new partnerships, fostering continued collaboration, and creating new synergies.”

As Senior Deputy Director, Mr. Walton will work closely with the Director and other senior leaders to empower, enable, support, and inspire CBC staff, ensuring they perform at their best and contribute to maximising the organisation’s service delivery and product offerings. He will also take on additional Portfolio responsibilities including managing the Intelligence and Investigation Unit.

CBC Director Bruce D Smith said, “I congratulate Mr. Walton on his new role as Senior Deputy Director. I am confident that his leadership will further strengthen our organisation.”

Mr. Walton’s promotion marks a significant step forward for CBC as it continues to enhance its operations and maintain its commitment to excellence.  Furthermore, this promotion at CBC is a great example of the significance of succession planning within the Cayman Islands Government, as it ensures continuity and strengthens leadership across the public service.

“Congratulations to Mr. Walton on his promotion to Senior Deputy Director,” said Minister Seymour. “His professional career as a dedicated civil servant of over 30 years brings a wealth of knowledge to this position. I look forward to seeing the future of the CBC service strengthen under his leadership.”
