CIMA Managing Director Cindy Scotland

CIMA Senior Analyst Nicola Lobban

Cayman Islands Monetary Authority Managing Director, Cindy Scotland, is this year celebrating 25 years of service, 22 years as its MD, leading the supervision and management of Cayman-regulated entities and also the Cayman Islands currency.

It is also Mrs Scotland’s role to develop and maintain strong working relationships between the Authority, the Cayman Islands government and other major international regulatory bodies.

Mrs Scotland took on the top job at CIMA in June 2000 and has spent the last two decades helping to steer the Cayman Islands to economic success and maintain the stability of the financial services industry.

She also takes on a variety of important roles to ensure Cayman complies with regulatory and cooperation matters with overseas jurisdictions. She is the deputy chairman of the Group of International Financial Centre Supervisors, and co-chair of the Financial Stability Board’s Regional Consultative Group for the Americas. She also interacts with bodies including the International Organization of Securities Commissions, the International Monetary Fund and the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force, as well as with jurisdictional regulators such as the UK Financial Services Authority, the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the European Securities and Markets Authority.

Mrs Scotland also serves on a number of local boards and committees such as the Cayman Islands Government Education Council, Cayman Islands Stock Exchange Authority and the Anti-Money Laundering Steering Group.

She was the 2004 recipient of the Young Caymanian Leadership Award and was made a life member of the International Association of Business Leaders in 2005.

Mrs Scotland said she was extremely proud to be part of an organisation that had been, and still was, the key to the integrity and success of the Cayman Islands’ financial services industry.

“At CIMA, we are a team of hardworking, resilient, and dedicated professionals, providing exceptional service to the financial community both domestically and internationally,” she said. “Some of the things I enjoy most about my job is the family-oriented culture, the diversity of the work, and the fact that every day I learn something new. No two days are the same!”

Senior Analyst Nicola Lobban is also celebrating long-term service this year, with eight years at CIMA under her belt.

Ms Lobban said: “CIMA provides invaluable experience and training opportunities that continually help to broaden my knowledge. I am very humbled to be part of such a dynamic and diverse team that is committed to protecting the integrity of the Cayman Islands' financial services industry.”
