The Chamber of Commerce continues to intensify efforts to offer critical support to local businesses and individuals through its series of free webinars, under the theme, Supporting Businesses in a Time of Crisis. The Chamber will be hosting three webinars next week on Monday May 11, Wednesday May 13 and Friday May 15, dealing with Resilience Cayman, Landlord and Tennant Issues and Cyber Security, respectively. All webinars are free to attend and open to both Chamber members and non-members.
The Monday May 11 Resilience Cayman webinar will share information on how this volunteer-run initiative is bringing together non-profits, businesses, entrepreneurs and other individuals to address the basic needs for food, shelter, healthcare, and jobs in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Jan Gupta, Resilience Cayman organiser, will make the presentation, and Chamber CEO, Wil Pineau, will moderate the session and join her in fielding questions. Resilience Cayman is a community service initiative of the Chamber of Commerce.
On Wednesday, May 13, experts from Campbells will provide important guidance on relevant legal principles for commercial and residential tenancies, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The session will address a range of issues including guidance to commercial and residential landlords and tenants on how to deal with scenarios ranging from non-payment of rent, inability to pay, landlord’s right of re-entry, tenant’s right to relief from forfeiture, effect of forfeiture on sub-leases, and negotiating and documenting variations to lease terms.
Friday’s May 15 webinar will be led by Richard Carty of BDO. It will focus on helping businesses and individuals understand the technology risks involved in working remotely, and how to address or mitigate these risks. The webinar will offer tips on where to start in assessing and addressing cyber security risks, possible sources of new attacks, top information security priorities and how to accommodate a new mobile workforce while remaining secure.
“Helping businesses and individuals get through this Covid-19 pandemic is top priority for the Chamber at this time. Our webinar series regularly attract close to 200 attendees per seminar, so it is clear that the public is eager to obtain this relevant and timely information. We are pleased to be able to offer up to 3 webinars per week” says Wil Pineau, Chamber CEO.
