CIBC Caribbean says farewell to Mark McIntyre

CIBC Caribbean officially bade farewell to Managing Director of its Cayman Operating Company, Mark McIntyre who retires at the end of this month.

His fellow executives headed by Chief Executive Officer, Mark St. Hill, gathered at Tides Restaurant in Barbados on Friday, March 14, 2025, to say a rousing farewell to McIntyre who spent the past 18 years with the regional bank, the last 13 of them leading the bank’s operations in The Cayman Islands which also had responsibility for operations in the Dutch Caribbean.

In reflecting on his career over the years, St. Hill said he first met McIntyre when he started at the bank’s legacy bank Barclays, in 1990 meeting McIntyre who had joined two years earlier. He said, he went on to have a “wonderful career” both with the bank and other financial institutions before eventually returning to the bank.

He fondly recalled his time working with McIntyre in the Wealth Management team noting “we had fun. We felt we were the ‘A’ Team!” He praised McIntyre’s “command of English” both written and spoken.

added that he was extremely versatile having garnered immense experience working in senior leadership roles in various countries across the region.

In his brief response, McIntyre who was accompanied by his wife of 28 years, Anita, whom he thanked for her love and support over the years and for keeping him level-headed.

McIntyre said he enjoyed “every moment” of his time with the bank.

He praised his colleagues noting that he enjoyed good relationships with all of them. “You have made it easy for me, we are a good team, and I wish you all success as you continue with your careers,” he said.

“It is time for me to go, you have to know when it is time to go, I thank you all,” he concluded.

McIntyre was presented with a painting by renowned Barbadian artist Omowale Stewart, by the bank’s General Counsel and Group Corporate Secretary, Brian Clarke.

It was not really a final farewell as McIntyre will Chair the Board of the Cayman Operating Company.
