Introducing our new series that we hope will give some of Cayman’s small business holders a bit of a helping hand when it comes to publicizing their goods and services. Cayman’s small businesses are the lifeblood of the island – they are where we all go to get our haircut, our tires changed, our evening meal and our new clothes. They therefore deserve all the help they can get during tough economic times.
This week we feature Focus Hair & Beauty, a great salon conveniently set in the heart of the West Bay Road at the Marquee Plaza, owned by Caymanian couple Charlene and Brian Barnes. Focus has been in operation since March 2005 and offers a full range of services, from hair styling, cutting and colouring, Keratin and hair Botox services, to manicures and pedicures, and facial and body treatments using the Guinot Institut Paris product line. Need a brow tidy up, a quick bikini wax or a long and leisurely Guinot facial? Then Focus is the place to go. Bridal hair and make-up are especially popular, as is styling and up-does for any big occasion when a bit more effort is required. Their massages are highly rated, performed by technicians Bhing and Kalpana offering Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, Thai and aromatherapy massages. They have built up a steady clientele who regularly visit for their weekly or monthly destress.
Charlene says the satisfaction of their clients is at the heart of everything they do.
“Our clients are incredible – they have stuck by us through thick and thin and are incredibly loyal. So, we always go the extra mile to ensure they have the best experience at Focus Hair & Beauty,” she says.
It is the little touches that make all the difference: a little plate of cookies to go with your tea, coffee or wine; the kind and friendly demeanor of all their staff; the fact that the technicians really listen to their clients’ needs; or simply the welcoming atmosphere at the salon.
“Very often our clients come to the salon as strangers and leave as friends,” Charlene confirms. “It’s really important for us to get to know our clients so we can appreciate their needs and desires. We work hard to create lasting relationships which ultimately makes us the best at what we do.”
