Last Thursday (30 January), Clifton Hunter High School (CHHS) hosted its annual Career Fair, showcasing over 40 employers from both private companies and government agencies. Students from Years 9 to 11 had the chance to explore career booths and network with industry professionals. Primary school students from the surrounding area also visited the fair, gaining early insights into potential career paths.

Teacher and School Events Coordinator Mrs. MaryAnn Chase expressed her satisfaction with the event’s ongoing success and highlighted the importance of introducing students to various career options.

“As part of our mission to guide students from the classroom into the workforce, we strive to make these connections available throughout their time here,” said Mrs. Chase. “Year 9 students can begin to explore job opportunities, helping them make informed decisions when choosing their exam subjects.”

Mrs. Chase also noted that students in Years 10 and 11 are seeking real-life experiences, and the career fair provides them with opportunities to secure internships, learn about training programmes, and explore available scholarships.

The CHHS Career Fair was an exciting opportunity for companies to showcase their offerings and shine a spotlight on their industries. Attendees had the chance to connect with representatives from renowned organizations like Credit Union, Water Authority, KPMG, and Walkers, each offering a glimpse into the diverse career paths within their sectors.

Dianne Conolly, Manager of the DART Hospitality Programme, shared that the company continues to use the career fair as a platform to inform students about the DART Scholar Progamme and career possibilities in hospitality.

“We attend every year to introduce students to the world of hospitality and the diverse career paths within it,” said Ms. Conolly. “It’s been wonderful to see so many students excited, with positive attitudes and open minds toward the roles in our industry.”
