Clifton Hunter High School held its graduation ceremony on Thursday, 12 October, under the theme, “Strive for Greatness; Accept Every Challenge.”
The event celebrated the achievements of 160 graduates who have demonstrated extraordinary resilience and determination on their academic journey.
Sixty-eight graduates were bestowed with Level 2 honours certificates, having attained a minimum of seven subjects, including math and English at Level 2.
Nineteen graduates attained Level 2 diplomas with high honours, having passed at least nine subjects at Level 2, obtaining math and English at either a grade 1 or 2 or A*, A or B.
Another notable highlight of the evening was the mention of the 31 graduates who completed the Level 2 ILM Leadership Programme with the Civil Service College.
In her address to the graduates, Principal Dr. Villence Buchanan congratulated them on their achievements and offered heartfelt advice. She encouraged them to embrace challenges and let them shape their future. She stated, “Every obstacle is only a stepping stone propelling you towards your goal. Strive not only for personal success but also to uplift others. Accept every challenge as a catalyst for transformation.”
The ceremony also provided an opportunity for the institution to recognise the outgoing Deputy Principal, Elitia Vassell, and the former Principal, Dr. Richard Wildman, for their invaluable contributions to the school’s success over the years.
Keynote speaker Seaford Russell, Jr., a Clifton Hunter High School alumnus, Boyz2Men Director, and accomplished journalist, shared his inspiring journey with the graduates. He offered valuable tips to navigate challenging times, urging them to be kind, avoid quick anger, think before speaking, find a good partner, and be forgiving. His core message to the graduates was a call to action: “Do your best, don’t give up, forgive, find a good partner, think before you speak, and accept every challenge.”
Leanna Allen and Jerry Allen followed with the graduates’ reply.
Her Excellency Governor Jane Owen was among the many distinguished guests in attendance. She delivered inspiring remarks and offered three nuggets of wisdom to the graduates. She encouraged them to create a balance in life, to understand that not everything can be planned, and to always keep learning, emphasising that continuous learning is a key to personal growth and success.
The Clifton Hunter High School graduation ceremony was a night of inspiration, celebration, and reflection, reminding graduates that their journey has just begun and that every challenge they face is an opportunity for personal growth and transformation.
