The decision to quite literally ‘stage’ the Oh Cayman concert featuring our local musicians deserves applause - for the performers as well as the organisers.
We are tempted to ask: ‘Oh Cayman, what took you so long?’
Our musicians are appreciated and are making their mark around the world, and they should receive top billing here at home as well.
It’s never too late to start, it is said, and this ‘start’ should evolve into a full-scale Cayman Islands national music festival going forward.
This would be for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. Music is a core part of our Cayman culture and it should be promoted and celebrated with everything else on offer.
There’s no question about the calibre of musicianship and technical production of our Cayman musicians across all genres.
We encourage the public to come out to show appreciation and support for our homegrown music maestros and thoroughly enjoy the musical feast that they’ll be serving up across the two days of the event.
November 18th and 19th Cayman will be ‘on song’ and singing along with our unsung music stars in the first of what is hoped to become an annual Cayman music festival.
The Harquail stage is a worthy staging ground for the performances this weekend and we hope the public will long sing the praises of the performers and the organisers, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF).
