The most recent statistics released by Public Health show that there was a total of 895 new cases of Covid-19 in the week 8 to 14 May 2022. This was 147 cases more than what was reported for the previous week. During this week there had been an increase of tests conducted, at 2,585, compared to 2,185 tests which took place the week before and 1,897 tests the week previous to that. Positivity rates have increased slightly over the weeks, with 35 per cent of those tested being positive for Covid-19 during the week 8 to 14 May.
During this same week, the steady stream of people needing hospitalisation for Covid continued, with 12 in-patients admitted to hospital. Of these, 83 per cent were vaccinated (two doses) and 66 per cent had received third doses/boosters. There have been 279 Covid-19 patients admitted since March 2020 to 14 May 2022.
