Action from the CUC PFL Under 9 Consolation Cup semifinal between Red Bay Primary (burgundy) and Joanna Clarke Primary.

With the many events taking place this past Saturday, December 3, the Annex Field was certainly one of the places to be as the 2022 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and the Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) semifinals took centre stage.

CUC Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL):

The young ladies kicked-off proceedings as top seeded Cayman Prep defeated Sir John A. Cumber Primary 3-0 and 3rd seeded St. Ignatius Catholic upset 2nd seeds Cayman International School 4-0. Cayman Prep will meet St. Ignatius Catholic in the final and Sir John A. Cumber Primary face Cayman International School for third-place.

CUC PFL Under 9 Consolation Cup:

Red Bay Primary’s young troops exploded in the second half as they toppled Prospect Primary 3-1 to secure their spot in the final. In the day’s second semifinal, a very young and experienced Truth For Youth outfit could not match-up with the pace and tenacity of George Town Primary as they were defeated 4-0. Red Bay Primary and George Town Primary face each other in an all-government school final.

CUC PFL Under 9 Champions Cup:

Top seeds Cayman Prep 9A and Cayman International School didn’t disappoint their fans as they won their respective semifinals in convincing style. bruising battle, secured a 1-0 win over their neighbours. In the other semifinal, Triple C lost out to Cayman Prep 11B 3-1. Cayman Prep 11B will face NorthEast Schools in the final this coming Saturday.

CUC PFL Under 11 Champions Cup:

This age group has seen some very exciting games throughout the playoffs and this day would be no exception.

In the first semifinal, defending Under 11 league champions Cayman Prep 11A overcame Sir John A. Cumber Primary 4-0 (respect rule enforced). The second semifinal matched Joanna Clarke Primary with Cayman International School and fans were in for a treat. Fresh off a quarterfinal penalty-shootout win over Red Bay Primary, Joanna Clarke Primary would experience yet another ‘nail-biting’ scenario, Going into overtime tied at 2-2, Joanna Clarke Primary nor Cayman International School could find that magic goal that would separate the two schools. Both schools found the net twice in the penalty shootout but in the sudden death penalty shootout, Cayman International School would triumph and book their place in the final after capitalising on Joanna Clarke Primary’s penalty miss. Final score ended Cayman International School 5 vs. Joanna Clarke Primary 4 (2-2 regulation time, 0-0 overtime, 2-2 penalties, 1-0 sudden death penalties).

In the final, Cayman Prep 11A face Cayman International School and Joanna Clarke Primary take on Sir John A. Cumber Primary in the third-place match.
