North Side and East End residents are reminded that Saturday, December 3, 2022 is the last day of bulk waste collection in the area also bringing to an end a four-week schedule announced for Grand Cayman.

Preliminary figures indicate that over 330 tons of bulk waste have been collected so far, vegetation included, in addition to over 80 tons of metal. “The amount of bulk waste collected this year is significantly less than last year when we also dealt with waste left after Tropical Strom Grace. We also appreciate the thoughtfulness of many residents who complied with the guidelines provided and the dates scheduled for their respective communities,” said the DEH Director Mr. Richard Simms.

Mr. Simms also confirmed that there will not be any extension of the collection schedule and that any bulk waste put out outside the announced dates will not be collected and will be considered littering and illegal dumping which has legal consequences and carries a fine of $ 500 or up to 6 months in imprison, in accordance with the Litter Act.

Alternative arrangements should be made by individuals to transport these items to the George Town landfill which operates from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, until 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays and it is closed on Sundays. However, the landfill drop-off facility at the gate will remain accessible for the public and small vehicles 24 hours per day.
