The Department of Education Services (DES) has been informed of an alleged case of misconduct by a staff member towards a student at the Prospect Primary School.
Upon receiving initial reports, the DES promptly referred the matter to the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) for investigation, adhering to the established protocol for addressing child protection allegations involving staff. The MASH team comprises professionals from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Family Support Unit of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS).
DES Acting Director Mr. Elroy Bryan advised that the member of staff implicated in the alleged incident has been removed from the school pending the outcome of the appropriate investigations to ensure the welfare of the students at the school.
The Acting Director further commented, “We recognise and appreciate the concerns of parents, guardians, and the community and share their dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.”
“We will continue to prioritise the welfare of students and maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any misconduct. Our educators are responsible for nurturing and educating our children, and we expect them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and care.”
