Dwayne “John John” Seymour campaign begins

Says he is the best candidate for Bodden Town East

Hon Minister of Health, Culture and Housing Dwayne “John John” Seymour was back to his roots, in Bodden Town East, for his big kick-off 2021 election campaign. There was a big crowd of supporters as well as those who just wanted to hear what he had to say. It was a long evening, with speeches and endorsements from many notable people, including the Premier, Hon. Alden McLaughlin, Finance Minister Hon. Roy McTaggart, and former MLA Lucille Seymour, who is John John’s aunt.

“Stand tall to endorse the Honourable Dwayne Seymour known as John John, but let me declare he’s my nephew and my comments tonight may appear personal, but my statements of him are absolutely factual. They are comments of the true mettle of the man,” Ms Seymour said. “John John to me is like a lit lamp, a lit lamp doesn’t speak, but it exposes itself to its light. His light has lit many pathways for good people to follow. John John’s name goes before him, we see his calm nature and his concern for people. He’s a real Caymanian who goes over-and-beyond for you. Over the dark days of covid, he has had the consciousness to bring God and spirituality into whatever we did.”

Hon Roy McTaggart said, “If you consider where the country was, and where they have moved to by the end of 2019, I think we can all be proud of what this country has achieved along with the support of the business community and the families of Cayman. Before the impact of Covid 19 early last year we had a Cayman economy that was the best in the region, and I would say tonight, arguably, we are still the best.”

Premier Alden McLaughlin said, “I say we got the best man in Bodden Town. Over the course of this covid-19 crisis, I could not have had a better minister of health than John John Seymour. In the early and darkest days of that crisis, when we had no means of determining how widespread the virus was in the community, John John was there every single day. That’s the kind of individual you need when things are rough. Anybody can captain the ship when she’s tied up along shore. It is when you get out there in the rough weather that you see the mettle of the man or woman; and I am saying to you, ladies and gentlemen of Bodden Town East, you do not need to look any further than John John Seymour.”

Mr. Seymour said: “Tonight I intend to demonstrate to you why I am the best candidate for Bodden Town East. One who cares, one who appreciates, one who listens, one who works hard, one who achieves, a man who delivers for his people. We have a chance in this election to decide on a candidate: one who shows the proof in the pudding, or one who muddles with the truth. A candidate who understands the power of example. Tonight I stand before you as Minister of Health; a position that the opponent cannot say he started and finished in.

“We can’t play prissy prim when the cat is running away with the food. The choice we have is one of life and death. It’s one where we have to decide on our own destiny. Look around the world and see how they manage the pandemic, and the same things we did one year ago, they are doing now – lockdowns, masks, testing. We have always said, lives over finances. And yes, some are out of work but we take care of those and we made the right choice and kept the country locked. If we elect the wrong persons into office, we don’t know who their influencers are. We don’t know, and we can’t take the chance.

“The difference between me and the opponent is I actually listen. I can think outside the box and work outside the box,” he said.
