Just after 8:30PM on Sunday, 2 May, police and other emergency services were dispatched to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle.
The rider of the motorcycle was unresponsive at the scene of the collision and was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
Officers from the RCIPS and the CIFS assisted on scene and North West Point Road in the vicinity of Invicta Drive has been closed to the public as a result of the collision. Vehicles were being diverted through Watercourse Road and motorist who usually utilise North West Point Road were being encouraged to seek alternative routes if possible.
Police have now confirmed that the rider of the motorcycle is a 31-year-old-man of West Bay. The investigation into this matter is being progressed and a 38-year-old-man, also of West Bay, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving whilst impaired.
