The congregation that attended the 5th National Prayer Breakfast would have experienced the spirit of God that morning. The All Nations United Pentecostal Church hosted their annual prayer breakfast at their church on Woodlake Drive and invited the Premier and the leader of the Opposition to give remarks.
The five hour event was truly inspiring as church members, visitors and dignatories worshiped together for one cause, “Prayer for the Cayman Islands”.
The event which was dominated by thundering prayer and praise featured many church leaders from the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, South America and the United States. Two of the highlights were the remarks from the the Premier, The Hon, Alden McLaughlin and the Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. McKeeva Bush. These two gentlemen displayed their pulpit skills as their deliveries drew standing ovations.
The Premier chose to focus on the power of prayer quoting scriptures throughout his presentation. He indicated that leaders need wisdom and courage to do whats right and quoted the prayer of the Legislative Assembly in an effort to emphasize that even in the halls of the Legislature, prayer is a priority.
The Hon. McKeeva Bush took to the podium soon after and was introduced as a friend of the church. It was clear that he was amongst friends and quickly got the congregation saying “Amens” to his message. He began by encouraging others to take the armour of God which will protect them from all difficulty. He reminded the audience that God answers prayer and whatever problems they were experiencing, whether it be crime or finances, the power of prayer will take them trough. On the topic of immigration, he reminded the Premier that Cayman is small but can still grow. “People come here to work and must be treated fairly,” he said. He recommended that they should continue to build the country and it will be a tragedy if we refuse to learn from our mistakes. He again reminded the Premier to treat people good if we wanted the country to grow. He also referred to those individuals who lived in the Cayman Islands for twenty years, built their houses and then told to go home.
The delicious Caribbean breakfast, catered by Champion House, pleased and filled the 300 attendees at the breakfast and prepared them for the strong blessings that fell on the church through the powerful prayers. Ironically, during this event, the “Swamp” area where the church is located was blessed with torrential rains.
The programme included a welcome from the Rev. Dolbert Clarke, National Superintendent, and the Guest Speaker for the event was Rev. Dr. Trevor Neil, President. Genesis Insitute of Theology and Leadership.
In all it was a motivating and inspirational prayer breakfast with gospel rhythms for the church band throughout the morning and many readers will now wonder if the Legal actions and Motions will be withdrawn in answer to the prayer for peace between the leaders.
