Four persons charged following Joint Investigation into Importation of Firearms and Drugs

Following a joint investigation conducted by the RCIPS and the Anti-Corruption Commission, two men, ages 32 and 43 of George Town, and a woman, age 33 of George Town, have been formally charged with Conspiracy to Import Firearms and/or Component Parts of Firearms, Conspiracy to Import Firearms (Ammunition), Conspiracy to Import Controlled Drugs, and Conspiracy to Supply Controlled Drugs.

A third man, age 23 of George Town, has been charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm in relation to the investigation.

The 32-year-old man and the 33-year-old woman were previously arrested in June 2022, following the recovery of a firearm and ammunition during a search. The man, who is a civilian employee with the RCIPS, and remains on suspension, was subsequently charged in relation to this incident. The 33-year-old woman has now also been charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition), in relation to the same incident.

The 32-year-old man has been further charged with Misconduct in a Public Office and Importing a Bullet Proof Vest Without Approval.

All four appeared in court on 18 October.
