CILLA Girls Softball featured another exciting game on Wednesday, March 10th, as the SOL Jaguars rallied from six runs down to defeat the first place SOL Pumas, 15-14.

Shay Windsor scored four runs and Clara Ramos and Rio Windsor added three apiece for the SOL Jaguars, who trailed 11-5 after three innings. The team rallied with ten runs over the final two innings, with Clara’s two run triple in the fourth and Shay’s grand slam homer in the fifth being the big hits. Shay and Clara each finished the night three for four, while combining for seven runs scored and eight RBIs. Shay also turned an unassisted double play in the fourth, tagging out a runner and stepping on 2nd base for the second out. Right fielder Hanna Jackson made a good throw in from the fence in the last inning to help preserve the victory. Pitcher Zhanna McDonald had a perfect inning, retiring three straight batters in the second.

SOL Pumas pitcher Aydis Rostran struck out nine hitters for the game and she went two for two at the plate, with a single, a triple and a walk, while scoring three times. Kenia Rostran went two for three, including an RBI triple, and two runs scored. Leila Dixon had a huge two run triple to the fence in the fifth inning, nearly completing the comeback. Jialy Archbold-McLaughlin scored twice for the SOL Pumas, who remain in first place despite the loss.

Catchers Rio and Kenia both had excellent games for their respective teams.

Game balls were presented to Clara and Shay of the SOL Jaguars for their outstanding contributions, particularly on offense.

Saturday’s game between the SOL Panthers and SOL Pumas was postponed due to rain and was rescheduled for Monday night.

The three teams will also begin their end of season tournament this week. This Wednesday sees the SOL Jaguars against the SOL Panthers at 6:30 pm and on Saturday the SOL Pumas take on the SOL Jaguars at 6:30 pm.
