Heart Heroes Brunch Raises Over $120,000 for Cayman Heart Foundation
The Cayman Heart Foundation’s annual Heart Heroes Brunch, held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Mykonos Steak Club, brought together celebrated Heart Heroes, heart disease champions, philanthropists and members of the community, together raising over USD$120,000 to support vital heart health initiatives within the Cayman Islands. This incredible achievement showcases the generosity and unwavering support of our community, whilst reinforcing that cardiovascular disease remains Cayman’s and the World’s most prolific health challenge.
The funds raised will go directly to the Cayman Heart Foundation, aiding programs that provide assistance to individuals in need, raise awareness of this devasting set of diseases and their symptoms, screening to identify more cases earlier, and interventions designed to tackle the core risk factors.
The event, organised by the Cayman Heart Foundation and Cassandra Lacelle of Electric Media Group, was certainly a day to remember. Guests were treated to a delightful three-course tasting menu by Chef Jonathan Rivard, live entertainment, exciting auction prizes, and the ever-popular Balloon Raffle where everyone was a winner. The brunch not only honoured seven Heart Heroes from amongst our community, each with an inspiring story of courage and resilience, but also brought together individuals and corporate partners committed to making a difference.
Special thanks go to our sponsors: Health City Cayman Islands, Health Services Authority (HSA), and Baptist Health, whose contributions were integral to the event’s success, as well as to our community at large for their enormous generosity in providing prizes.
The Cayman Heart Foundation would particularly like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Suzy Soto, the organisation’s founder, and a tireless driving force behind this year’s brunch. Her passion and dedication, along with the support of fellow board members, ensured the event exceeded all expectations.
“This year’s Heart Heroes Brunch was a testament to the power of community and a reflection that it’s time to call time on the devasting effects of cardiovascular disease across our Islands,” said a spokesperson for the Cayman Heart Foundation. “Thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses alike, we can continue our mission to improve heart health and save lives in the Cayman Islands.”
