Cloudy rainy conditions associated with tropical storm Elsa, currently 89 miles north of Cayman Brac, will continue across the Cayman area through to late tonight with an gradual decrease in cloudiness and showers thereafter as Elsa moves near the Florida Keys.
Radar images show scattered showers in and around the Cayman area moving southwest.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Elsa, which at 4 a.m. was located 21.0 N and 79.9 W, about 89 miles north of Cayman Brac, with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. Elsa is moving towards the northwest at 14 mph.
Sister Islands remains under a Tropical Storm Watch.
Cayman Islands National Weather Service will continue to monitor the progress of this storm.

Today: Cloudy to overcast skies with scattered showers and thunder. Showers may become locally heavy at times leading to flooding in low lying areas. Temperatures will rise to the mid 80’s °F. Winds will be southeast 15 to 20 knots over Grand Cayman, 20 to 25 knots over the Sister Islands. Higher gusts are expected in and around heavy showers. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 4 to 6 feet over Grand Cayman, 5 to 7 feet over the Sister Islands. Small craft warning remains in effect.
Tonight: Cloudy to overcast skies with isolated showers and possible thunder this evening becoming partly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of showers from late tonight. Temperatures will fall to the upper 70’s °F. Winds will be southeast 15 to 20 knots with higher gusts. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 4 to 6 feet. Small craft should exercise caution over open waters.
