The National Weather Service has advised that as Tropical Storm Laura moves across Cuba, an increase in cloudiness and showers is expected from tonight, mainly over the Sister Islands
As at 4pm Cayman Brac and Little Cayman was placed under a Tropical Storm Warning
We can expect cloudy to overcast skies with a 80% chance of showers and Thunder. Showers may be locally heavy with possible flooding of low-lying areas.
Winds will be West to southwest at 10 to 15 knots with higher gusts in the afternoon
According to the Miami Herald, Further east, Tropical Storm Laura's heaviest impacts so far have been on Puerto Rico and the island of Hispaniola, and by Monday morning the storm is set to slam much of Cuba.
As at 2pm on Sunday, the storm was 90 kilometres south of the eastern tip of Cuba and travelling west-northwest near 33 km/h, expected to continue with decreasing speed over the next two days. A turn toward the northwest is forecast on Wednesday.
On the forecast track, the centre of Laura will move near or over Cuba Sunday night and Monday and then over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico Monday night and Tuesday. Laura is expected to move through the central and northwestern Gulf of Mexico Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Residents in Grand Cayman are encouraged to monitor this system as flooding is occurring from thee heavy rains
