Join with us at the Caymanian Times as we play tribute to the amazing women who have helped to shape our islands – past and present - in our four-page special created to celebrate International Women’s Day. Read about how the brave, strong women in history helped to create our modern-day society, and how women populate many of the highest seats in office today. Our Governor, Premier, Chief Justice, Deputy Speaker and many others are all women, certainly a first in Cayman’s history. These are trailblazing women who are creating a path for other women to follow so, one day, it will not be a novelty that these high seats of office are held by women.
International Women’s Day is a celebration of women which takes place globally on 8th March and this year’s theme for the event is Inspire Inclusion. We therefore encourage our readers to do all they can to ensure their workplace, school, home and leisure space are inclusive to all people, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, religion and ability.
Let’s celebrate how far we have come in the quest for equality, be thankful that we live in such a progressive and open society where educational opportunities are available equally to women as they are to men, and let’s ensure that women are not held back or paid less in the workplace because of their gender. Let’s ensure that women in Cayman are included, encouraged and celebrated not just on 8th March, but every day of the year.
