Integra opens new women’s health facility

Minister of Health & Wellness, Hon Sabrina Turner, MP, cut the ribbon on Integra Health Care Ltd.’s new suite of rooms dedicated at providing a top level of care for women’s health, and all matters relating to gynecology, pregnancy and neonatal care. Integra share a vison to complement all the other health facilities in Cayman, by focusing on specific areas, while establishing a fully integrated approach to health care. Integra recently purchased a state-of-the-art scanner for detecting skin melanomas, too.

The new suite of treatment rooms include a dedicated Ultrasound Room, a Midwifery room, an Obstetrician-Gynecologist Room, and a Nursing Room. Before the ribbon-cutting, Dr. Sara Watkin, one of Integra’s Directors, shared Integra’s vision for providing the highest level of health care, not only in terms of the best and most up to date equipment, or the most highly qualified staff, but, most importantly in the way that everyone works together as a team. “Its special because it’s a major milestone in the vision we have, about the sort of health care we felt the Cayman Islands truly deserves,” she said. “We never forget how privileged we are to be here, and we wanted to give the islands a modern healthcare practice, and offer the very best of modern up to date health care. Nurses and reception too, all of us are bound by equally shared values of excellence, integrity, commitment and passion. Integra is clear in its focus on women children family medicine and dermatology, and these rooms are purpose-designed for the full range of obstetrics, midwifery and gynecology,” she said.

Dr. Lisa Lisa Joels spoke next. “This place is designed to meet the needs of women’s’ health which spans all ages and it comes with some of life’s happiest moments, and also some of life’s most sensitive moments and difficult challenges. The clinic rooms are all designed to give women privacy and respect during intimate examinations and procedures. We also offer multidisciplinary approach to more complex cases.” she said.

Hon Minister for Health and wellness, Sabrina Turner praised Integra for its continued visionary commitment to Cayman’s health, as well as the growing possibilities arising from medical tourism: “It is indeed a pleasure to be here and I stood there and I watched …to be with you this evening, to celebrate and launch Integra’s Women’s Health Suite. It goes without saying that we are living in an exciting time during an era of incredible scientific and technological development. And look at the role women are playing in all facets of society; this coupled with the fact that not only residents will benefit, but as we know, patients are increasingly travelling in search of high quality healthcare, and affordability which continues to greatly propel medical tourism. With all these dynamics at play, my ministry understands that it is critical that the Cayman Islands be able to compete. When we are able to boast modern facilities within well-thought-out accommodations such as this, I am proud to say we are definitely in the game,” she said.
