Jillian Crooks makes second Olympic appearance in women’s 100 Free
Cayman Islands standout swimmer Jillian Crooks made her second Olympic Games appearance on Tuesday, 30 July, touching the wall in 56:15 seconds in the women’s 100-meter Freestyle event at the 2024 Olympic Games, in Paris.
“This race was a learning experience and I’m very glad that I was able to get up and go and race for my country,” Crooks said. “Once again, have fun with it, and it’s just a race.”
Crooks entered the competition with the 21st-best entry time of the 29 athletes competing in the event. She finished seventh in her heat.
“Going back on my time, I’m pretty happy with it where I am in my season right now,” she said of her performance.
Crooks’ time was not among the top-16 finishers, meaning her time competing at the 2024 Olympics has come to an end. She said the experience at the Paris La Defense Arena was one to remember.
“Oh, it was amazing. It was very loud and helped motivate all the athletes in my heat and in the heat before me as well,” she said.
Paris 2024 takes place 26 July – 11 August. Paris is the main host city with events held at 16 other cities throughout France and one in Tahiti.
