After several years of visiting other OBGYNs on island for my annual check-up, in July 2022 I decided that I would go to Dr. De Alwis for my next annual check-up. Because of my age, Dr. De Alwis recommended that I do a comprehensive check-up which included blood works, mammogram, ultrasounds etc.

Following check-up and tests, it was discovered that I needed to have surgery due to findings that should have been picked up by the other OBGYN who I had visited as late as 2021. Due to the nature of the diagnosis, it was recommended that I do the surgery ASAP.

There were several follow-ups with my insurance company personally and Dr. De Alwis’ office, and up to the morning of the surgery I was not sure if I would be proceeding with the surgery as we were still awaiting approval from the insurance company.

Seeing my anxiety and knowing the nature of the surgery he was about to perform; Dr. De Alwis advised me that he would waive his doctor’s fee and assured me that he would take the best care of me and will sort everything else after.

Throughout my pre – operation and post operation meetings with Dr. De Alwis, my husband and I found that he was professional, direct, and clear in his explanation of what was happening with my body. He was very accommodating and available at short notice when I called or stopped in for the smallest concern.

I am very grateful to Dr. De Alwis for his care, understanding and expertise in dealing with my condition. I was very happy and grateful with the decision to have my annual check-up with Dr. De Alwis.
