Shortly before 7:40PM last night, 23 December, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a robbery on the premises of a restaurant on Sound Way, in George Town. It was reported that two masked men on a motorcycle approached another group of persons at the location. One of the men brandished a gun and demanded cash from the group. The men then fled the location on the motorcycle, with a quantity of cash.
No shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident.
Officers responded immediately and, with the assistance of the police helicopter, located the motorcycle which had been abandoned on Helen Drive. One of the suspects was subsequently located nearby and taken into custody. No firearm was recovered.
The man, age 23 of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, and remains in custody as investigations continue.
