On Thursday, 7 September, officers in West Bay received a report of the theft of a bicycle. Officers later recovered the bicycle at an abandoned address in West Bay. The next day, officers attended the location and observed a man known to them who attempted to discard an item upon seeing the officers. Officers detained the man and recovered the item, which was a portion of suspected cocaine. The man, age 52 of West Bay, was arrested on suspicion of theft and possession and consumption of cocaine. Officers also found a piece of equipment in the man’s possession, which had been reported stolen during a theft from a motor vehicle. The man was further arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.
The man has since been formally charged with seven offenses related to multiple incidents:
One count each of Criminal Trespass, Theft, and Interfering with a Vehicle, relating to an incident at an address on North West Point Road on 23 April, 2023.
A second count of Criminal Trespass relating to an incident at the same address on 28 April, 2023.
A second count of Theft relating to the theft of the bicycle on 7 September, 2023.
Possession of a Controlled Drug (Cocaine,) and Consumption of a Controlled Drug (Cocaine) relating to his arrest on 8 September, 2023.
He appeared in court on Monday, 11 September, and was remanded to HMP Northward pending a further appearance on 26 September, 2023.
