The Portfolio of the Civil Service in the Cayman Islands Government has announced the appointment of Melanie McField as Manager of the Commissions Secretariat.
As Manager of the Commissions Secretariat, Mrs. McField is responsible for ensuring the provision of strategic and operational support to six independent Commissions in order for each to fulfil their respective constitutional and/or legal mandates.
Mrs. McField is a Caymanian professional with over 20 years of experience as a marketing, communications and event management strategist, with 10 of those years at senior management level. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
Deputy Chief Officer of the Portfolio of the Civil Service (PoCS), Lauren Knight, who has oversight of the Secretariat, welcomed Mrs. McField to the PoCS family, commenting that she looks forward to Mrs. McField’s capable leadership and strategic direction. “I welcome Melanie to PoCS and the wider Civil Service family, and look forward to supporting her in the role as she works to ensure the delivery of the Secretariat’s mandate.”
Prior to assuming the role of Manager, Mrs. McField was the Director of Programmes and Communications at the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF), where she was responsible for managing the planning, systematization, and execution of CNCF’s annual programmes and festivals delivered to celebrate Caymanian heritage and culture.
In 2021, she was selected to join the Ministry of Investment, Innovation, and Social Development’s Dubai Expo 2020 Team, on secondment from CNCF, where she assisted the Cayman Islands Representative in Dubai with the planning and execution of the Cayman Islands events in conjunction with the United Kingdom Pavilion. She also worked previously with the Ministry of Financial Services in the Marketing and Communications Unit.
Mrs. McField expressed her enthusiasm about joining the Commissions Secretariat, “As Manager, I am honoured to lead the Commissions Secretariat and excited about the opportunities ahead. Our dedicated team will continue to uphold the highest standards of efficiency, transparency, and fairness in assisting the Chairs and members of each commission. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the Commissions Secretariat and advancing our mission.”
Mrs. McField assumed her role on 5 February 2024.
