Maples and Calder, the Maples Group’s law firm, has announced that it has received the most Tier 1 rankings across its British Virgin Islands (“BVI”) and Cayman Islands practices in The Legal 500 2023 Caribbean Guide.
The firm achieved eight Tier 1 placements, with clients endorsing the practices as having ‘a well-rounded team available and able to present clients with effective solutions to their needs’ and ‘great people across various jurisdictions’. The firm’s Cayman Islands Corporate & Commercial practice, the only corporate practice in the Cayman Islands to achieve a Tier 1 ranking, was described as having ‘terrific partners – very responsive and resourceful’. The Group’s Cayman Islands Regulatory & Compliance practice moved up to Tier 1 status, receiving praise for having ‘strong knowledge about financial regulations of the Cayman Islands and very efficient deliverables for the client.’
In addition to receiving the most Tier 1 rankings, the firm also had 59 lawyers recognised in this year’s guide across the various categories. In the guide, 14 Partners received the ‘Leading Individual’ accolade with Dispute Resolution & Insolvency Partner Luke Stockdale entering the elite category this year. An additional 14 Partners were recognised in the ‘Next Generation Partner’ category, with Finance Partner Wanda Ebanks, Corporate Partner Shari Seymour, Dispute Resolution & Insolvency Partners Nick Herrod and Adam Huckle entering the category this year.
Commenting on the rankings, Global Managing Partner, Jonathan Green said, “A well-deserved congratulations to all our lawyers included in this year’s guide. We are delighted to receive continued recognition from our clients and colleagues, which is a reflection of our lawyers’ dedication to providing the highest quality legal expertise paired with an unmatched client-focussed service.”
