Ministry of Education (MoE) Provides Grants for Education Council Overseas Scholarship Recipients

The Ministry of Education (MoE) announces the award of one-time grants to Education Council Scholarship recipients newly accepted to study in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

“We are aware of the high costs students traditionally incur when preparing to study overseas for the first time. As these costs continue to rise, the Government aims to ease some of our students’ financial burdens by providing grants towards the costs of obtaining their visas,” remarked Minister for Education, Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly.

The Education Minister continued, “Scholarship recipients accepted to study in the United States and Canada will receive a grant of CI $1,500.00 to cover visa fees and other expenses associated with travel to and from countries where the embassies are located. Students heading to institutions in the United Kingdom do not have to travel off-island to obtain their visas. They will receive a CI $500.00 towards the related costs.”

The MOE Scholarship Secretariat Unit will email all applicants who have received a provisional scholarship offer no later than Friday, 22 July 2022, with details on accessing the grants.

Grants will be awarded to those who have been approved for overseas studies.
