God’s people from churches all over the Cayman Islands came together for the National Day of Prayer. There, right outside the Glass House they called on the name of God for his blessing and his providence on behalf of the Cayman Islands.

Pastor Torrance Bobb of the First Assembly of God Church, said, “The National Day of Prayer is important, because it gives us as a nation the opportunity to corporately seek God, beseeching Him on behalf of the well-being of our country. ‘He hath founded us upon the Seas,’ means that God is responsible for our existence. In Him we ‘live and move and have our being.’ Because God is the One who made us and the One to whom we are responsible, it is fitting that we as a community would take time to thank God and to ask Him for protection, provision and guidance in our national affairs.”

Rebecca Chacon Missionary assistant with Pastor Torrance Bobb at the First Assembly of God church, Said, ‘We do this annual gathering during the week of Easter and come together a few days before Good Friday for a National Day of Prayer to pray for our nation, our leadership, our families, our children, and just lift all the needs up to God, as we celebrate something that God came to do on earth, two thousand years ago. He came to give up his life as a ransom for our sins.”

Pastor Andrew Ebanks of the Agape Family Worship Centre led the congregation in a prayer for all who are in authority including Her Majesty the Queen, the Governor, and the Members of Parliament. Then there was a scripture reading, from Matthew 28, 1-10, which describes how the Angel of the Lord rolled back the heavy stone from Jesus’ empty tomb, and sat on it. “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”

Rev. Alson Ebanks spoke on the topic of the importance of prayer, and gave thanks for the Privy Council’s recent ruling on marriage. Next, Pastor Joel Clarke prayed for all the members of the Judiciary, including the Courts, the Parole Board, and Probation Services. Pastor Garett Haylock prayed God’s blessing upon all the uniformed services including the Police, Immigration, Customs and the Fire Service. Bishop Juliette Fagan let the congregation in a heartfelt prayer for victims of domestic abuse, drug abuse and crime. Pastor Eitel Morris prayed next, for Cayman’s families, marriages, the elderly and Cayman’s youth. Rev. Godfrey Meghoo prayed for all of Cayman’s teachers and schools and students at all levels, and Pastor Allister Belbin prayed for all of Cayman’s pastors and churches, and asked God to bring a mighty revival to the Islands. Pastor Steve Brady, of the First Baptist Church, prayed for all the leaders, and people of Ukraine. Pastor Mitch Exctain prayed God’s blessing and protection on all of Cayman’s doctors and nurses and health practitioners, especially during this very difficult time of the covid pandemic. Pastor Winston Rose gave the closing remarks, thanks, and the benediction.
