NEW COMMUNITY CENTRE FOR CAYMAN BRAC

Cayman Brac now has a new community centre.

The facility,, opened on Friday, January 25th, by Hon. Premier Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, is considered ‘another milestone event coming to fruition for the Ministry of District Administration and Lands.’

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Premier, who is the MP for Cayman Brac East, said she was extremely happy about the completion of the facility and was determined to ensure that these are provided to the different electoral districts.

“I am proud of this district, of the residents, of their commitment to community life and development. I trust that this will be a productive facility ensuring events and activities that will be beneficial to everyone.”

The new Cayman Brac community centre at Spot Bay is housed in the old Teacher’s College which was refurbished and repurposed for its new lease of life.

Mrs. Heidi Wallace, Senior Manager, Human Resources, gave the opening remarks and greetings.

She highlighted the value that the facility would bring to the Spot Bay community and Cayman Brac as a whole. District Commissioner, Mark Tibbetts, emphasized the value that this new facility will have for the residents.

He envisioned its use to promote community events, build community lifestyles and enhance community togetherness.

The prayer was delivered by Pastor Gayle Woods and that mode, Premier O’Connor-Connolly was also thankful.

“God has been extremely gracious to us as a nation. Were it not for His abundant Grace and Mercy, who knows where we would be today? Let us, therefore, ensure that we are a grateful people and nation. Enjoy this facility and may God bless our nation.” 

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by a tour of the facility. Prizes were raffled and refreshments provided.
