On Saturday morning, 27 March, officers responded to a report that members of the public had located a package containing suspected drugs on the shore off Shamrock Road, some distance west of Spott's Dock. Members of the public had been on the shore when they observed a vessel that appeared to have washed on the iron shore and received extensive damage. Officers attended the location and recovered the package which contained suspected ganja.
There was also no sign that persons had gone into the water or were in distress. A search of the vessel and out to sea was conducted, with assistance from the police helicopter, and no other packages were found. The vessel was subsequently removed from the location.
The matter is currently under investigation and the RCIPS is asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything concerning the incident to contact the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
