Philippines is magnet for Brits

Boracay has the finest beaches in the Philippines

The Philippines has been shortlisted for “most desirable country” as well as for two other categories by a United Kingdom-based travel magazine. The tourist industry in the Philippines is not as renowned as its south-east Asia, but its lack of development and unspoilt beauty is one an attraction for many Brits.

Wanderlust travel magazine included the Philippines as one of the countries in the “most desirable country” category “for the rest of the world.”

The country is known for having its friendliness and natural beauty as its main tourist attraction. Popular destinations among tourists include Boracay, Cebu, Palawan and Siargao.

Boracay is famous for its white sand beaches, amazing nightlife, and fun water activities.

Cebu and Palawan were also nominated as the most desirable region and most desirable island, respectively. Palawan is more laid back, has fewer tourists and is not very developed yet but has fantastic beaches and unbelievable scenery and an understated nightlife.

The Department of Tourism has urged Filipinos to “show support” and vote for the country in Wanderlust’s website. The voting closes on October 25.

Last year, Wanderlust named Australia as the most desirable country for the long haul, while France was named short haul best.

British Columbia was the most desirable long haul destination last year, while the Greek Islands was best for the short haul.
