In the wake of Tropical Storm Grace, the Department of Planning is reminding the public of its protocols for electrical re-connections, following storm damage to electrical systems.
Licensed Electricians who have carried out repairs to electrical systems as a result of the recent storm, can request required inspections by the Department of Planning prior to CUC connection, using one of the following options:
1) by phone or WhatsApp message (preferred) on 929-1078 (8:30am to 1:00am) or 936-0818 (1:00am to 5:00pm) and provide the following details:
• Location of property (physical address and block and parcel number)
• Type of property use
• Name and contact of their client
• Licensed electrical business name, /licence number, /contact information
• Licensed person’s name, licence number, contact information
• Description of damage
2) A reconnection form (inclusive of the information above) can be completed at our counter in the Government Administration Building between 8.30a.m. and 5.00p.m., Monday through Friday.
3) Electrical Contractors who already utilise the Online Planning System can complete the request for a Post Disaster Reconnection Permit using the instructions below:
• Log into OPS > Click ‘Submit/Track New Applications’ > Click ‘New Application’
• When form loads, select the ‘Island’ then click ‘Choose Your Application’, then Click ‘Post Disaster Permit’
• Select ‘Reconnection Permit’ in the second drop down menu and continue to complete the rest of the form. Click ‘Submit’ at the bottom when all mandatory fields are filled out.
Important notes:
• Electrical and plumbing repairs are to be carried out by licensed contractors in those fields. (They should be able to produce the ID cards issued to them by the Department of Planning).
• Building owners and contractors are reminded to obtain the necessary approvals prior to concealing repair works.

Please note that at this time the Planning Department is prioritising electrical re-connection inspections due to storm damage.
