At around 3:40PM, Friday 29 December, officers on foot patrol responded to a report of an altercation at a commercial store on Cardinal Avenue, where a women was reported to have accosted staff when confronted about an attempt to steal goods from the store.
When police arrived at the location to conduct enquiries, the suspect, a 31-year-old woman of Bodden Town, fled the scene. Officers pursued her on foot and subsequently apprehended her in a parking lot where she was arrested for the offence of Theft-Shoplifting. One officer received injuries during the arrest.
The woman was taken to the Cayman Islands Detention Centre where she remains in custody at this time.
Police investigations continue.
