On Sunday 26 May, around 8:15AM, police were to a report of a person in distress in the vicinity of Cemetery Beach, West Bay Road.
On arriving at the scene police observed an unresponsive man receiving CPR by persons on the beach.
It was reported to police that a member of the public on the beach noticed what appeared to be an unresponsive man in the ocean. Persons in the vicinity pulled the man ashore and commenced CPR, until emergency service arrived and took over.
The man was transported to George Town Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor. The man was a 78-year-old of West Bay.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the death are currently ongoing.
The RCIPS expresses its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
