The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is reminding residents that public cemetery vaults shall not be altered without the prior written consent of the head of the department.
“It has come to DEH attention that some vaults in public cemetery have been painted in a different colour other than original colour white. We are kindly asking persons to repaint and restore any vault purchased in the public cemetery via the DEH, and comply with the vault purchase and sale agreement signed”, said DEH Director, Richard Simms.
Keeping the external surface of the public cemetery vaults unaltered and the prohibition of any vegetation being planted in a public cemetery are requirements agreed upon in writing by purchasers of burial vaults from DEH.
