RCIPS advise of Motor Vehicle Sale scam

Police have received reports from persons who have attempted to purchase a black Honda Fit, registration #189-455 from a man offering it 'for sale'. These persons have paid over money as a deposit or full payment but have not received delivery of the car in return.

Police want to advise the public that the vehicle is owned by a rental company, and the attempted sale of the vehicle is a scam.

Anyone who may have information regarding this man or who has engaged him in relation to the purchase of this vehicle, is encouraged to contact the police via 911, or the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via our Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via our website<http://www.rcips.ky/submit-a-tip>

The RCIPS advise the public that when considering the purchase of a vehicle from an individual to always request to see the log book and registration details to ensure the person is the legitimate owner.
