The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) would like to remind the public that officers will be making frequent checks at bars and clubs across the island this long weekend between Friday 11 June to Monday 14 June. These patrols are to help prevent violent crimes and public order issues that arise in these locations.
Proprietors of liquor license establishments are being asked to pay attention to what their licenses allow them to do on each day, specifically, their opening and closing times as well as when music and dancing is allowed.
"We are encouraging all owners to ensure their businesses are compliant with the Liquor Licensing Act to avoid any penalties including the non-renewal of licenses for businesses who have multiple breaches. A person, who commits an offence under the Liquor Licensing Act, is liable on summary conviction to a fine of one thousand dollars and imprisonment for one year and, on a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine of two thousand dollars and imprisonment for two years," says the Chairman of the Liquor Licensing Board.
