The RCIPS Human Resources Department recently participated in the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre’s (CIFEC) Career Fair on Friday 20 September with the goal of providing students with information on prospective internship opportunities.
During the Career Fair, the HR officers as well as Police Officers spoke to students on career paths within the RCIPS including various civilian roles, and applications were received from 15 students.
HR Officer Aaliyah Johnson stated that, “It is important for us to attend career fairs such as these so that we can show a positive representation of the service to the younger generation of Cayman. Since working with the RCIPS in the HR Department, I have found that people often have misguided opinions of the service, whether it be that police officers are only street officers or that there is only police related job opportunities with the police. My department’s goal was to ensure that clarification is provided and that students had a full scope of the potential within the RCIPS."
The CIFEC partnership will begin in October, 2019, and the HR Department is currently finalizing placements for students to ensure on the job experience to provide developmental opportunities.
