Red Plastic Bag, or RPG as many call him, or simply Bag, is a soca legend in his Barbados homeland, having won the title of Calypso Monarch at least ten times. Hailing from the sleepy parish of St. Phillip, RPB began performing in 1979; apart from a two-year hiatus, he has been a formidable fixture on the Bajan calypso scene, and internationally as well.
RPG’s numerous hits include ‘Ragga Ragga’ (recorded in seven different languages), ‘Volcano’, ‘Uneasy’, ‘Wrong Gal’, ‘Something’s Happening’, ‘Sweet Soca Song’, ‘Once Upon A Wine’, ‘If Ah Sweet Ah Sweet’ and, ‘I Love It’. An infectious blend of melodies and rhythms with the feel-good factor of his lyrics, serve to make Red Plastic Bag one of the most popular performers throughout the Caribbean.
Stedson Wiltshire has come a long way in his distinguished career. In January 2015 RPB, along with fellow Barbados and St. Lucia stars Charles D. Lewis, Wayne "Poonka" Willock, Anderson "Blood" Armstrong, Lennon "Blaze" Prospere and Nicholas Brancker were invited to Berlin, Germany to participate in a cultural exchange project, receiving accolades from both critics and the general public.
